UE Henry Mayo members raise issues on COVID-19 response

UE Local 1004 Henry Mayo Hospital Workers Union

Members have communicated their concerns regarding protective equipment and other needs during the COVID-19 pandemic. On April 28th, 2020, at 1:00 pm the UE Local 1004 Executive Board delivered these messages to the hospital to make sure the situation can be further improved. A virtual member meeting will occur soon.

The items proposed to Management are:

  • That the Hospital offer full furloughs to members working less than their full work week. (Members can qualify for Covid 19 Pandemic Unemployment Assistance)
  • That members be able to use their ESL hours to help supplement flex/call off for COVID-19 crisis-related reasons.
  • That there be fair work reductions across the board in accordance with the Union Contract.
  • Ensure that units working with COVID-19 patients have the proper equipment and that the Union contract’s Health and Safety section be followed.
  • Ensure that at-risks employees are not working with COVID-19 patients
  • Hazard Pay for all Union Members working in at-risk conditions.

Please wear your Union buttons and attire where possible to show support for this effort.
